Neon is not a topic I've featured as it is normally reserved for athletic gear and spring/summer garments.  However, like shown in the above photo, both high and low end brands, have been releasing neon pieces ahead of schedule. What's interesting is the items are particular to the fall/winter seasons. You may be asking yourself is this a trend on the rise or a spring 2014 fashion tease ? Lol.  I've noticed that when a trend is set to begin the accessories are the first items to be marketed. For example you saw velvet clutches, head bands and shoes before you saw velvet pants and skirts. I can not say for sure that it is a trend but I certainly LOVE IT and neons will be apart of my winter wardrobe.

This past weekend my amazing friend Aria celebrated her 24th birthday ! We had an wonderful time and she , like the rest of my friends (remember; Reme's sneak wedge ensemble) was dressed to to turn heads ! Aria beat me to the punch by doing the unthinkable, unimaginable and wore neon during the winter!! [My neon garments are still in transit from Hong Kong :( ]

Birthday Girl!

Aria kept her look in season by pairing this form fitting neon dress with a leather high heel with metal ankle straps,  a faux leather and metal clutch, finished with diamanté jewelry.

Return of the ...

You may be wondering what Dionne from  Clueless has to do with Marylin Monroe or why, on as fashion blog, is the flawless Princess Dianna in the same photo as Austin Powers. Not to worry, I have not lost my mind!! Have a second look and you will realize that each of these fashion icons are wearing velvet. If you were born anytime before the 90s I'm sure you remember this legendary fabric. I'm also sure when it disappeared from the fashion scene you thought you would never see it again. Well I hope you were nice this year because not only will you be asking Santa for a gift but you may want fashion advice from Mr. Claus as well!!

It
's been forever since my last post, almost a year exactly! Where have I been? Well I was busy being pregnant! Lol. The angel sitting on my lap is Miss Alivia Gisele! She is such a blessing and I thank God for her everyday :)
Trust me, I sat at my lap top countless times attempting to blog about maternity fashion and the trends of Summer 2013 but maternity clothes are so boring  and it was too heart breaking to write about things I couldn't wear . Anyhow, I'm back in full effect just in time for my favorite season WINTER!! I love fall fashion but if you're a true fashionista like myself, you know that Winter is the both holy grail  of the seasons! I'm ready for the fur, leather, velvet, suede, scarfs, hats, gloves, boots, layering ... Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.  I am beyond excited to begin blogging again especially since my pumpkin Alivia will be involved.  Stay tuned for my next post !!

Colored Pants

I enjoy the fashions of the fall and winter seasons but the colors are so boring. Brighten up your look with colored pants!! Below is an example of how I incorporated a summer/spring color into a fall/winter look.

       Sweater: H&M
             Pants: H&M
           Shoes: Posh

I'm not a fan of pairing items that match each other perfectly (like my shoes and sweater do) so to break up this "matchy matchy business" I threw on a pair of grass green skinny jeans. To brighten up your outfit when wearing  dark colors like blacks, browns and navy blues I suggest  wearing pants that are really bold shades (NO NEONS) of peach, red or green.

Color blocking

Color blocking is the technique of combining a few bold colors to create one look. Like everything in fashion, it is a trend that comes and goes. For the past two years, fashion giants such a Gucci , Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger and many more, have added color blocking to their runway collections and I LOVE IT!! Below are a few picture of me color blocking.

Street Fashion: The Sneaker Wedge

Recently I wrote an article about the popular sneaker wedge and lord and behold  Reme, a frequent reader of "Whitney Jannee" and Centrals class of 2008 best dressed female (I should of got that!! lol j/k) lit the streets on fire with an amazing outfit. Reme is definitely living by the Whitney Jannee motto, "Evey day is a fashion show and the world is you runway" ! Check out the pics below.

Reme rocked her sneaker wedges with jean shorts, maroon sheer leggings, an army fatigue print button down paired with a fur vest (trend alert: fur)  a black Mugler inspired purse and gold cross earrings. You go girl!!

The Hermes Birkin

Left to right: Lady Gaga, Nene Leaks, Victoria Beckham, Evelyn Lozada, Fitria Yusuf

The Birkin bag by french designer Hermes is the holy grail of all purses. The starting price of the Birkin is $10,000.00. No I didn't make a mistake with the comma or decimal, that's right ten thousand dollars! Depending on the material or customization they can be as expensive as 150,000.00. But whats all the hype about? After all it doesn't do anything special like take the dog for a walk or prepare a meal . At best you can resell it on ebay and hope to break even. Lol. Over the years the Birkin has simply become a status symbol. It represents a certain level of wealth and success.Think about the kind of financial freedom one must have to own a purse worth well over 10,000.00 or a collection of purses costing as much as a house or luxury vehicle. Its rumored that Victoria Beckham has a 2 million dollar Birkin collection. (I wonder if she gets Spice girl royalties ... hmm).

The Birkin is very attractive but ladies, do we really have to dish out thousands of dollars to look this fabulous? As my Jamaican grandmother would say "No, YUH MAD?" Lol. Of course we don't! After a little searching I found many designer bags inspired by the Birkin. Check them out!!

Hermes: Birkin est $20,000.00

Prada: Saffaino $619.00

Michael Kors: Hamilton $398.00

Cole Haan: Kendra $228.00
Judith Ripka: Manhattan $105.00
Whitney Jannee :)
And me rocking my Birkin inspired bag I found on ebay for $40.00 !!! What do you ladies think about the Hermes Birkin?

The Sneaker Wedge

The sneaker wedge has been popping up all over the place. All the celebs have been seen rocking them from Beyonce to reality star Emily B! These would seem perfect for a girl like me (who never wears sneakers but likes to be comfy) however I don't own a pair and I'm not sure how I feel about them yet lol. I did a little searching and apparently they are very popular. Both affordable and luxury designers are offering their own versions of the sneaker wedge! Check them out & tell me what you ladies think!!
